Game Shooting at Vale House Kitchen

The Glorious 12th might be a month or two away still, but at Vale House Kitchen, it’s never too early to start looking forward to shooting season – which features some of our most popular courses throughout the whole year, so it’s also never too early to think about booking your place!

For us, the shooting season officially starts in October with the first of our game shooting courses – but if you can’t wait that long, or if you’re looking to brush up your skills before then, take a look at our Simulated Game Days. These simulated shoot days feature more than 4000 clays, so fast and furious fun is guaranteed, and we host them at some fantastic local shoots who all go to great lengths to make sure that the simulated drives are just as challenging and exciting as the real thing. New to the sport? Beginners are very welcome, but do let us know if you’re a novice, as we’ll need to arrange a qualified instructor to accompany you – it’s the perfect way to get a really thorough introduction to the sport. We have various dates throughout the summer so get in touch if you are interested.

Looking ahead to October, our first shooting courses of the year are already selling out, so if you’re hoping to come, make sure you don’t leave it too late to book. Our two-day Shooting Experiences are hugely popular, incorporating a day of shooting (clays in the morning and wild game birds in the afternoon) and a day in the kitchen, led by expert chef Tim Maddams, where you’ll learn how to make the most out of the delicious game native to the UK. Prefer to skip the clays? We also offer a two-day Driven Game Experience, where you’ll spend the first day on a 120-bird driven shoot through valleys and woodland that will test even experienced guns, followed once again by a day in the kitchen which covers everything you need to know about cooking game, from preparation to delicious modern and traditional recipes. We’re really proud of this complete field to fork experience, which we think gives a whole new dimension to the shooting season, and we’d love to have you join us!

Don’t forget, though, that if you prefer you can also book each day from our two-day experiences singly, and just come along for either the shoot or the cookery day – see our Courses page for more details. We think anyone who enjoys shooting will get a great deal out of learning to prepare what they shoot, and anyone who loves to eat game will enjoy the opportunity to source their own meat, so why not try something new this year? For the 2019 season, we currently have courses available on the 5th and 6th of October (selling out fast) and the 11th and 12th of January, but our shooting experience on the 16th and 17th of November is already sold out – so book now to ensure you don’t miss out on a place!
