The Fly Fishing Experience – 2 day course

The first day of this 2-day experience starts with a briefing at Vale House Kitchen before renowned fly fishing instructor Neil Keep takes you out to our local lakes. There you will work with him to learn all the skills and tricks to master this most elegant sport. The day ends with a fishing session, when hopefully you’ll land a fair few for the table!
Lunch is included.

✹ About the tackle, what it does and how to set it up.
✹ How to make a fly cast safely.
✹ How to know which fly to use and basic entomology (the study of fly life).
✹ Different fishing techniques.
✹ Playing and landing fish (what to do once you have hooked your fish!)

On the second day, chef extraordinaire Tim Maddams will give a brief overview on freshness, quality, sustainability and how to buy the best fish. You’ll then get cooking, with a series of demonstration-led lessons. Fish is one of the most exciting, challenging and delicious foods to cook with but it’s also the easiest to get wrong. This course is designed to give you the skills to make fish the star dish on your supper table.
