Fancy getting to grips with this fantastic outdoor sport? Involving an artificial ‘fly’ which is cast on a line, fly fishing often has a bit of a reputation as a tricky skill for beginners to acquire – which is why all of our courses take place under the expert guidance of our tutor Neil Keep, who has forty years’ experience fishing all over the UK and plenty of tips & tricks to share.
Skills
• How to set up the tackle and what it does
• How to make a fly cast safely
• Choosing which fly to use and basic entomology (the study of fly life)
• Different fishing techniques
• Playing and landing fish (what to do once you have hooked your fish!)
Our one-day Beginners Fly Fishing course starts with a briefing at the stunning Manningford Trout lakes with renowned fly-fishing instructor Neil Keep. Once we’re out in the fresh air, Neil will teach you the skills you need to master the art of casting and help you choose the correct fly to tempt a few trout. With Neil on hand to supervise and guide you, you’ll then spend the day fishing and hopefully land a fair few for the table! A delicious lunch will be provided for all attendees.
