Edible Gifts Course at Vale House Kitchen

We’re looking forward to our ever-popular Edible Gifts Course in November. It might seem a long way off, but with Christmas definitely on the horizon this course always fills up fast so make sure you book your place now if you’d like to join us! We think it’s the perfect antidote to the crazy commercialisation of the festive season – swap the usual mad dash round the shops for a lovely cosy day in the Vale House Kitchen classroom, creating all sorts of gorgeous treats under the expert guidance of tutor Vivien Lloyd.

Baking and bottling your own goodies is a wonderful traditional way to get ready for Christmas, and our Edible Gifts Day features something for everyone, whether they have a sweet tooth or a savoury one. Viv’s homemade mincemeat and frangipane mince pies are always a huge hit with our visitors – we guarantee you’ll never buy a box of supermarket mince pies again. For the festive cheeseboard, meanwhile, we’ll mix up a batch of gorgeously fragrant homemade chutney and bake some wonderful cheesy crackers – keep these goodies for yourself to treat the family, or package up in a little hamper with a few of your favourite cheeses for a great gift.

Speaking of gifts, Viv’s citrus-infused liqueurs are always bound to please – just the thing for a cheeky hot toddy on a cold winter’s day – or for those who like their treats just a little bit less naughty, we’ll also be baking some irresistibly moreish chocolate cookies. For the perfect present, just add a little ribbon and a homemade label.

You’ll get to take home everything you make on the day, so you’ll have a head start on the Christmas prep already (the chutney is particularly good if it’s made on our Edible Gifts Day and then left to mature until Christmas), plus plenty of goodies to tuck into straightaway. And you’ll also take home a course booklet with all of Viv’s recipes, so you can pick your favourites to make again at home and treat friends and family – why not get the kids involved? Big ones can help with mixing and baking, and little ones can decorate labels for your goodies – a perfect present for them to give to doting relatives.

There’s simply nowhere nicer on a grey November day than a cosy, aromatic kitchen. Whether you’re feeling festive already, or you need a little help rekindling your Christmas spirit, this is sure to be a wonderful day – book your place here and join us!
