Corporate Days at Vale House Kitchen
At Vale House Kitchen, we know that good food and drink brings people together. That’s why we think that when it comes to corporate days out, you should forget muddy team-building assault courses in the rain and come to us instead, for a day of feasting and fun.
Bristol-based company This Is Home made that very wise decision recently, joining us for a day of cookery skills, foraging and wine-tasting. We split the 30-strong group into three sections, rotating each through the three activities and bringing them all together for a splendid lunch on the lawn. Local foraging expert Chris Westgate led walks through the lush surrounding countryside and revealed the bounty of delights hiding in our British hedgerows and verges. Vigneron Hugh Tripp, from Avalon Wineyard near Glastonbury, brought over a selection of his excellent wines and ciders for a tasting in our converted cellar. And professional chef Kieran Lenihan took over our classroom for the day to teach some beautiful vegetarian-friendly recipes, including soda bread, flat bread and a delicious squash pesto, all of which our guests took home with them at the end of the day – along with a sourdough starter from Joe’s Bakery in Bristol, which we hear is now doing extremely well in their office!

We might be a bit biased but we reckon that beats ice-breaking exercises in the bland conference room of an anonymous hotel, hands down. And it seems that This Is Home agree with us too – not only did they praise our ‘wonderful setting, lovely energy and delicious lunch’, and describe our tutors as ‘brilliant’, but our favourite comment summed up the whole idea perfectly – ‘the best balance of business and pleasure ever.’ What more could you want?
